How to get authorized to mail at non-profit rates
Just because you were granted nonprofit status from the IRS does NOT mean you have been granted nonprofit mailing status from the US Postal System. You must apply for this status.
The US Postal system has special rates available for churches and other nonprofit organizations. Nonprofit postage rates are considerably lower than regular rates, but not everyone can qualify. The process is free and easy. Even if you don't plan on doing a bulk mailing in the near future you should take advantage of nonprofit status from the US Postal system. The following information will help you determine if your organization is eligible for nonprofit postage rates.
Organizations wishing to mail at nonprofit rates first must be authorized by the Postal Service as eligible. Then, they must make sure that the material being mailed complies with strict requirements for nonprofit rates. Truth Advertising takes all the guess work out of your mailings by using our mailing center to make your mail compliant with the US Postal service standards for non-profit mailers.
The current saturation price for nonprofit organizations is about 7 cents per piece.
All we need is a copy of your FREE authorization letter once approved, and we will do the rest. Truth Advertsing can mail under a "ghost" status for your church, but your must have your authorization.

2. Copy of 501c3 paperwork; (if 501c3 is not in your name, you will need to bring a 501c3, AND a letter on the parent organization's letterhead stating that you fall directly under their 501c3 status)
3. Copy of Church Constitution, Bylaws or other organizational document (this is for #2 on pg 3)
4. Copies of Church materials; your bulletin & one other item (this is for #3 on pg 3)

2. A Profit and Loss Statement outlining the financial status of your organization (cannot use a monthly statement)

You should get a response via email within about 2 weeks.
Ghost Mailing for Your Church
If you have approval to mail at Non-Profit rates by the US Postal System or currently hold a Non-Profit Permit, TA can clear your mail under non-profit status and ship to any post office for mailing at non profit rates.
This service has always been offered by Truth Advertising and is with the new postal regulations effective May 14th 2007 is being accepted as the norm for Church Mailing.
This process is called "ghost permitting" also know as "request to mail at a post office other than your own." It will eliminate any work on your part when it comes to getting the mail into the Post office it needs to go to.
Truth Advertising will do all the work for you. We will complete form 3623 and type a letter on your church letter head requesting Truth Advertising to mail for you on your behalf and submit both when we clear your mail.
By doing this Truth Advertising is able to clear the mail for you at our Mailing Center in Dallas, TX under our non-profit permit and then truck the mail for you to your local post office. This process saves your church time and very rarely results in any extra trucking charges.
